As part of a frequent flyer program overhaul, Spirit Airlines has launched a no-annual-fee airline rewards credit card alongside its refreshed flagship Mastercard.
Back in December, The Balance shared news that changes were coming to the Spirit Airlines World Mastercard in early 2021. Those card changes, plus a new, previously unannounced no-annual-fee card, were rolled out alongside the Free Spirit frequent flyer program updates on Jan. 21, according to an airline press release.
The two airline cards—Free Spirit Travel Mastercard and the Free Spirit Travel More Mastercard—are issued by Bank of America, and offer frequent flyers extra rewards on airline purchases and nice-to-have travel perks such as early boarding and rebates on in-flight purchases. Updates to the Free Spirit frequent flyer program mean rewards earned with both cards never expire and can be pooled with points earned by family members or friends.
Here are the highlights of the two Spirit Airlines credit cards:

As we reported in December, Spirit’s Travel More card offers more ways to earn rewards and a slightly higher annual fee compared to the previous version of this card, though new cardholders won’t have to pay the annual fee for the first year. This card more squarely competes with the Alaska Airlines Visa Signature Card and the Southwest Rapid Rewards Priority Card, thanks in part to the new companion voucher perk.
The new, no-annual-fee Spirit card isn’t a stand-out but gives Spirit loyalists a low-cost way to earn some rewards and enjoy airline perks. It has a rewards earning rate similar to that offered by the retired Spirit card, and comparable to rates other entry-level airline cards offer.
