Social Security payments for October 15th: Who gets them?
The second batch of Social Security payments for October is set for distribution this week, marking the first month under the agency's new paperless policy. Most recipients will need to have a direct deposit set up with their bank account or use a Direct Express card. This change comes after President Donald Trump signed an executive order in March, ending the issuance of paper checks by the federal government, with a compliance deadline of September 30th.
According to the SSA's payment calendar, beneficiaries born between the 11th and 20th day of their birth month will receive their monthly Social Security benefit on Wednesday, October 15th. Social Security benefits, typically paid to older or retired recipients, are usually issued on Wednesdays. However, for those born between the 1st and 10th of the month, payments are issued on the second Wednesday of the payment month. Those born between the 11th and 20th receive payments on the third Wednesday, and those born after the 20th get payments on the fourth Wednesday.
For recipients who received Social Security before May 1997, payments are expected on the third day of the month, unless it falls on a weekend or holiday. Those receiving both Social Security and Supplemental Security Income (SSI) can expect their Social Security payment on the third day of the month and their SSI payment on the first day of the month.
